“There’s nowhere else like London. Nothing at all, anywhere” – Vivienne Westwood

London, England

London is a super special place. Full of charisma and chaos, it’s one of the best cities in the world to explore as a local or a visitor. We never tire of our capital city and consider ourselves very fortunate to live under an hour from this cosmopolitan part of England. One of the things we’ve experienced recently and loved is a helicopter tour above London to get a bird’s eye view of the areas we know so well. Here you can find details about this helicopter tour with VVB Aviation, why we chose it and what else there is to enjoy nearby. Continue reading “London By Air – A Helicopter Tour”

Experiencing Rio Carnival

How to enjoy a couple-friendly long weekend at Rio Carnival with Tucan Travel.

“Life is for those who know how to celebrate” – Osho

A Carnival Tour For Couples

Every year, we look at the flights and hotels in Rio around Carnival and groan at how expensive it becomes at this popular time. Next year, we say. But if you always say ‘next year’ it will never happen. So, despite not really being able to afford this one, last summer we booked flights and a tour package to Rio de Janeiro for February 2017! Sometimes, the things we look forward to the most and for the longest, can never live up to our incredibly high expectations. ‘Carnaval’ was everything we’d dreamt of … and more. We feel so blessed to be able to share with you this month a real once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Some people may not think of Rio Carnival as a couple’s destination. However, we feel it’s a fantastic travel bucket list item for couples who enjoy music, colour and fun. Here you can learn all about Rio Carnival itself, why we booked a tour with Tucan Travel and the ‘best bits’ for couples to enjoy together.

Alpine Views and Authenticity

Why your new favourite style of holiday should involve snow and how authentic Austria is a great place to start.

Let The Happiness In! Lass Die Freude Rein! – Tourism Slogan

 Zell am See, Austria

Winter in Europe has actually become one of my favourite things. Why? SNOW. I used to be a hot-holiday only type of girl. If the destination wasn’t warmer than the UK, no thank you! Now, I love a winter destination and this has broadened my travel horizons to encompass pretty much every type of destination on the planet. If the old me sounds a little familiar, I urge you to try something different too. A snow holiday is fun-packed and allows you to connect with the outdoors in new and exciting ways. You don’t have to be into extreme sports, you can be the hot-chocolate-and-cosy-fire-type of winter traveller. There’s no denying that those white-blanketed photos are a magical addition to any traveller’s collection. For our first trip of the year, we travelled to Zell am See in Austria for a 7 night package holiday to get our winter fix. Continue reading “Alpine Views and Authenticity”

A Rural Retreat

A rural retreat that prioritises wellbeing and relaxation in Thetford Forest, England.

“I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order” – John Burroughs

Thetford Forest, England

We can all benefit from a full recharge now and again and the great news is this doesn’t have to cost the earth or take you too far away from home. Everyone should have a local spot to turn to in times of need for pure relaxation and a complete vacation from everyday life. My biggest time of need for such a break often hits me in late December, when the party season has begun to take its toll on my body and bank account and I’m utterly fed up of all the running around that has sadly become normal for this time of year! Spend a weekend in Copenhagen, the ultimate Christmas city in Europe, full of Christmas markets, fairytale stories and mulled wine.

“To Travel Is To Live” – Hans Christian Anderson

Christmas Markets in Copenhagen, Denmark

The beginning of December is the ideal time to visit Denmark’s idyllic city Copenhagen. Any city in Europe will get you in the Christmas spirit at this time of year but Copenhagen is particularly magical. Enjoy being surrounded by tasteful Christmas lights, multiple Christmas markets and get well acquainted with the Danish concept of ‘hygge’ (to be cosy in both body and soul).
